In the name of increased citizen participation in national policies and under the theme of “Music creates Ideas, Ideas distinguish Lives”, preparations have begun for a nation-wide referendum regarding the future of the Sunilian National Anthem.
This moves comes following a series of long-lasting discussions within the Central Committee of the National Party of Sunilia (ZK der NP). Due to the inactivity of the ZK on the issue, the emperor Linus the I. decided to issue an Imperial Decree on Friday calling for rapidly setting up the framework for such a referendum to take place. Concrete dates for the opening and closing of the referendum are yet to be announced.
The referendum is expected to be performed in a “hybrid” form using both digital submissions and accepting voter cards via post. This is due to the spread-out nature of Sunilia’s territories and, even more so, its citizens. The voters will have the simple yet important task of listening to several audio samples of prospective new national anthems and rank them according to their personal preference, from best to worst. Votes will be tallied using the “instant runoff” system.
